[ Mako echoes, because it's hard not to be excited when Raleigh is, when he's looking back at her with such excitement and such hope that it's infectious. It's why she loves him, it's why she's come to depend on him -- Raleigh rarely ever lets anything get him down, and if he does, he's usually back up in due time.
He's sweet, he's loving and he's thoughtful, and the affirmation feels her with a brilliant warmth -- forget being hungry, she wants to be with him. She cradles his face in her hands and guides him up to kiss him, smiling despite herself. ]
You make me feel like we can take on the world together.
[Raleigh smiles against her mouth. She makes him hopeful, she makes it easier to dream and be excited for things because she makes it possible for him to imagine a future at all.]
[ Yes. Yes, they have, and it's amazing what they've done up until now, creating their lives together; there's a happiness in his eyes that hadn't been there when they'd first met, and even though he still carries a measure of sadness, he hopes, now, he hopes when he'd been bereft of it for so long.
She exhales, content and loved. ] Well then, now that we've done that -- what should we do next?
[It's kind of hard to top saving the world in the grand scheme of things. She's working to rebuild it and he's going to school to more or less do the same thing and that's enough for him, he's pretty sure.
It's a different kind of challenge, to raise Sophia and now to add this little one to their family. Being a dad is some scary shit sometimes, difficult and easy at the same time and he doesn't want to fuck it up with his kids like his own dad did.]
I've got big plans to stop you from working so much while you're pregnant.
[ That's enough for the both of them -- their lives are sweetly domestic and normal now, and there's nothing that can convince Mako to change that. It's a life she wants together with Raleigh; to have Sophia and now their new little baby, and they're going to get through all of this together.
She's going to be right there with him every step of the way, for one. With a small smile, she nudges her nose against his. ]
[ Mako laughs, trying to get him to kiss her, to have his lips over hers because more than anything, she loves his kisses -- she loves how he makes her feel so beloved. ]
Those are very cruel things to do. Are you going to be my jailer?
[ Hey, why no kisses? Mako stifles a soft whine, because he's deliberately not wanting to give her kisses until she capitulates, and that's not fair. ]
I can handle it, Raleigh. You don't have to worry about me. [ says the chronic workaholic. ]
[ Mako frowns -- it's unfair, to use the three of them as leverage; but then again, it's true, isn't it? Now, she has more people to think about, not just herself. It always is a struggle and a change, but she finally nods. But: ]
[Raleigh feels like he's won a major victory, when she nods in agreement and he smiles at her widely. Good, baby steps. He figured that he'd have to wheedle at her all night to get her to agree to coming home earlier than she usually does.]
[ It's hard, you know -- Mako's got a lot of changes to make, and she's frowning at that, contemplating and calculating how much more work she can get done at the office with these new measures in place. But Raleigh has a point -- work can never be done, can it? But this, their baby, Mako doesn't want to do a thing to endanger the viability. ]
All right. [ She tugs him closer for a cuddle. ] I'm thinking of visiting the gynaecologist next week. Just to check that everything's all right.
[In all honesty, Raleigh's going to talk to Hercules too, and get him on board with keeping Mako from working too much. It's because he loves her and the baby, honest.]
[ Mako blinks, surprised. Oh, she loves you too, baby, although she wouldn't appreciate knowing that you and the Marshal Hansen are about to gang up on her. ] I thought you didn't like hospitals.
[He doesn't just 'not like hospitals'. Hospitals make his skin crawl and remind him of too many awful times, of his mom and his brother and his own painful recovery and Raleigh does avoid them every chance he gets.
[ Mako finds that adorable -- that he would come to see the ultrasound with her despite his... extreme preferences. So she kisses him for it, sweet and slow, because he's going to be a daddy to the baby that's growing inside her, and she knows that he's going to be the best.
Nuzzling into him, she muses. ]
I'll take you along if you promise not to tear up.
[The ultrasound's a good thing. This one's a good thing, it's going to show them their baby, not how far the cancer's spread in his mom's body. Or how the nerves in his arm are fucked.]
Fuck that, I'm bringing a box of tissues for both of us.
[They're going to be parents again. Sophia is wonderful but this is different. It's just different.]

Oh, no. What are you planning to do?

Raleigh noses her back, little eskimo kisses that he doesn't finish with a real one, not just yet.]
I've thought about hiding your keys. Or tying you to the bed. Maybe stealing all of your underwear so you can't get dressed.

I worry you work too much already. And you're in a more delicate state now.

Yeah. Home by five.

But Raleigh, I have work --

It can wait. Come on, please. For me and Sophia and this little one.

...Can I bring some work home?
no subject
If you don't do it until after Sophia's in bed.
no subject
During her nightly bottles! I'd like to spend some time on you too, you know. If I start too late, I'll be too tired.
no subject
Alright. But when she's in bed, I want the work put away too. For serious.
